Donald Trump's $TRUMP cryptocurrency jumped more than 70% after he revealed two special events for high-net-worth investors. The 220 largest holders of the meme coin will be treated to a private gala dinner with the president on May 22 at the Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C. The top 25 holders will also receive an ultra-exclusive VIP reception with Trump. Though the recent surge, the coin still sits below its all-time high of more than $74 last January. The $TRUMP token, which was introduced shortly prior to Trump's inauguration in January, is part of an overall crypto effort tied to the former president, who has referred to himself as the "crypto president." The market cap of the coin sits at about $2.5 billion. The effort has been criticized, with some within the crypto world referring to it as a publicity stunt. Trump also initiated crypto-centric executive orders such as a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and his media outlet will introduce digital asset and America-based stock-focused ETFs.
