WHAT ABOUT UKRAIN BY TRUMP ??
White House press director Steven Cheung tweeted a link to the BBC's exclusive Biden interview, taking aim at the former president. "Joe Biden is an absolute embarrassment to this nation and the office which he held. He has patently lost all cognitive abilities and his handlers had the idea to let him go do an interview and incoherently stammer through every response," said Cheung. "Unfortunately, this is starting to feel like abuse." Biden withdrew less than four months before the election in November, and when pressed on whether he should have withdrawn earlier and given more time for a replacement to be selected, he replied: "I don't think it would have mattered. We left at a time when we had a good candidate." "Things happened so fast that it made it hard to walk away. And it was a tough decision," he said. "I think it was the right decision. I think that… it was just a tough decision." Questioned about the administration's treatment of US allies under Trump, the previous president decried Trump's demands that the US reclaim the Panama Canal, buy Greenland and annex Canada as the 51st state. "What the hell's going on here? What president ever speaks like that? That's not who we are," he said. "We're about freedom, democracy, opportunity, not about confiscation." Over three years of combat, his White House changed its stance on the deployment of US-provided weapons and removed some restrictions along the way. "We provided them with everything they required to sustain their independence, and we were ready to react, more forcefully, if Putin acted again," he stated. Biden was also questioned regarding remarks from the Trump administration that Kyiv would have to relinquish some land in exchange for a peace agreement that would end hostilities. US Vice-President JD Vance last week outlined the US plan for a peace deal in Ukraine, stating it would "freeze the territorial lines. close to where they are today". They would both have to "give up some of the territory they already possess", he said. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has made similar comments, stating the restoration of Ukraine's borders before 2014 is "unrealistic". "It's modern-day appeasement," Biden said Monday, referencing the strategy of former British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, who tried in the late 1930s to appease Adolf Hitler's demands in an effort to prevent a disastrous all-out war in Europe. He also indicated that he fears "Europe is going to lose confidence in the certainty of America and the leadership of America.". The leaders of the continent, he said, were "wondering, well, what do I do now?. Can I count on the United States? Are they going to be there?"
